Supergrass and Reef are among the names announced for Rise Up Festival, the UK’s largest alcohol-free festival, at the Headcorn Aerodrome.
The unique event, which will take place from Friday, May 27 to Sunday, May 29 in Ashford, is presented by Rok Soba, who produce their own range of alcohol-free drinks.
Big names performing across the weekend include Glastonbury rockers Reef; Peter Hook and The Light, fronted by the former Joy Division and New Order band member; and ‘80s pop band The Primitives.
Also appearing at the festival are ‘90s legends Supergrass.
Best known for their 1995 international hit single Alright, Supergrass will also be performing at Pub in Park in Tunbridge Wells and Smoke and Uncut near Canterbury throughout the summer.
The line up also includes Kent’s own indie-pop band Coco and the Butterfields, who hail from Deal.
The idea for Rise Up Festival was sparked by brothers Lee and Shaun Fennings, both recovering alcoholics and founders of Rok Soba. The festival promises to be an alcohol-free, family-friendly event and is the first of its kind in the UK.
The outdoor festival will be held at Ashford’s Headcorn Aerodrome. The event will honour this venue’s previous life as a World War II RAF airfield with a variety of overhead activity across the weekend.
There will also be camping facilities on site for those who wish to stay overnight at the festival.
The camping area will open from Thursday, May 26.
