Live performances on stage are set to return to one town as its biggest theatre opens its doors again.

The Assembly Hall Theatre in Tunbridge Wells will be one the first in the county to reopen to audiences since lockdown hit the industry hard back in March.

Things kick off this weekend when on Saturday, October 17 a residency from The Comedy Store begins with four comedians including Hal Cruttenden bringing some laughs, followed by a performance by the Royal Tunbridge Wells Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, October 18.

The award-winning English Touring Opera will begin their residency on Sunday, November 1 presenting often unperformed and small works and the third residency will see live music return with a partnership with The Forum for Thursdays – The Forum Nights.

Theatre director JJ Almond said: "We could not have pulled this season together without the goodwill and support of our producers and we are really grateful to them and all of the artists involved, being willing to come to our venue and return to live entertainment.There will be fewer seats available for shows as we adapt to the new way of working so it’s important to book early."

Shows to come include Strictly stars Kevin and Joanne Clifton on Sunday, November 29 and a small scale pop-up style panto, Jack and The Beanstalk.
