Two rip-roaring raconteurs are transforming the Marlowe Studio into a local watering hole, hoping to promote distinguished drinking and save the British Local.

Ben McFarland and Tom Sandham take audiences on a trip from the oldest building ever found - a pub - around the world in pursuit of alcohol's true impact on the human race.

With amazing facts, vaudevillian sketches and witty one-liners, the pair come across as the ideal landlords with a mastery of comedy and charisma.

And that's not even mentioning the five free drinks included in the ticket price.

Ben McFarland and Tom Sandham have a wealth of knowledge between them following illustrious and award-winning careers in drinks industry journalism.

After their 2011 Edinburgh Fringe show 'The Thinking Drinker’s Guide to Alcohol' experienced huge success, the dynamic duo have been common fixtures on radio and TV.

Now they are putting their livers (and dignity) on the line in their hilarious new touring production 'The Thinking Drinkers': Pub Crawl'.

Featuring a surprise amount of semi-nudity, the two-man show celebrates the discoveries and world-changing moments that took place in drinking holes throughout time.

For example, did you know that the rules to both the ancient Olympics and cricket were formed in taverns? Also, did you you know that the term 'honeymoon' actually has alcoholic roots?

While the facts are interesting by themselves, it is the jovial atmosphere created by the two experts and their outlandish comedic routines that truly make this show shine.

The Marlowe studio proves perfect for this performance, with the slightly tipsy audience (and performers) helping to create an intimate pub-like setting.

Ben and Tom have an incredibly easy manner, switching brilliantly between 'straight man' and irreverent and brash roles.

At times similar to a pantomime, at others times similar to a wine tasting - this unique performance is not to be missed.

The Thinking Drinkers' Pub Crawl is on at The Marlowe until Saturday, March 30. For tickets and more info, visit https://marlowetheatre.com/shows/thinking-drinkers-pub-crawl/
