A 10-year-old boy took a bike ride along the seafront from Herne Bay to Whitstable and back again to raise money for charity today.

Josh Stickels battled the cold, wind and rain to complete his cycle for the Children with Cancer charity and raised over £150 in the process.

The idea came after his dad needed help in a wider fundraising effort for the London Marathon.

Josh's dad Matt said: "Josh is always looking to help people and he has been all around the neighborhood, our family and friends to raise the money.

"He is really happy because he aimed to raise £100 and he got past that target.

"It all started because I was volunteered by the coastguard to run the London Marathon, and we have all got together to make a fundraising team.

"We are raising money for children with cancer because this really hit me as a parent, what would you do if your child got cancer?

"We are now over 10% towards the final goal of fundraising for the marathon."

The ride back to Herne Bay had to be cut one mile short as Matt, who works for the coastguard, received a call out to search for a missing person.
