An Amazon customer was left stumped when she went to collect a delivery from a locker – but wasn't able to reach it.
Hilary Broad, who stands at 5ft 2in, had ordered some kitchen weighing scales to the Shell petrol station in Old Thanet Way, Swalecliffe.
But when the 66-year-old went to collect it from the pick-up point, she wasn't able to grab it even when standing on her tip-toes.
Amazon Locker allows customers to have their parcels delivered to one of the hubs which can be retrieved at that location by entering a code.
A door then opens and the buyer can access their order.
Ms Broad, who is retired, is currently living at Seaview Holiday Park in Swalecliffe with her partner, Nigel Hall.
She has since spoken about the comical incident – and joked that she would remember her stepladder next time.
"Because we live on a holiday park, we have it delivered to the locker at that petrol station," she said. "They give you a code and it says stand back.
"All of a sudden this door opened at the top, and I couldn’t get it out.
"I’m 5ft 2 and I thought it was comical because I couldn’t reach it."
Although there was a kerb under the Amazon Locker, Ms Broad said it would have been "a bit dangerous" to stand on.
"My partner just stood their and laughed and took a picture of me," she added.
"The fact it said stand back, you think it’s going to hit you in the face.
"Luckily my partner was in the car and he said, 'good job I'm here because I can get it for you'.
"The door opens and if you don’t take your parcel out, the door would have just stayed open. So really I think Amazon have to plan that better."
A spokesman for Amazon said: "Amazon Hub Lockers are fully automated, self-service pickup points that provide great value to those who consistently miss deliveries.
"Lockers are currently available in a variety of locations across mainland UK.
"Customers can request that their parcels get delivered into a lower locker slot, between 15” and 48” from the ground, during checkout.
"Information about accessibility for Amazon Locker can be found on our help page."
