Cyclist dies in Canterbury Road, Whitstable, crash

A cyclist died in a crash with a van yesterday.
Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses following the accident in Whitstable.
The incident happened at 8.30pm when a white Vauxhall Vivaro van travelling south along Canterbury Road, Whitstable, near to Saddleton Road collided with a cyclist that was travelling in the opposite direction.
The cyclist, a 35-year-old man from Whitstable, died at the scene.
The van driver, a 21-year-old man, from Whitstable, has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in custody.
Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or saw the van before or after it and has not yet spoken with officers should call the witness appeal line on
