A body has been found on a beach this morning.
Emergency services descended on Whitstable seafront in the early hours after being alerted to reports of a body on the shore.
Passers-by reported seeing fire crews, ambulance workers and police officers on the scene.
A tent was set up and the entrance to the beach had been cordoned off – though this has since cleared.
A police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called to a report that a body had been found on the beach near Harbour Street, Whitstable at 6.15am on June 20 (Thursday).
“Officers attended and a man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“The death is not currently being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.”
