A 16-year-old boy arrested after two teenagers suffered cuts in an attack near a popular family event has been released while the investigation continues.

Police and ambulance crews were called to Tankerton Road, Whitstable at about 6pm yesterday, and two teenage boys were treated by medics.

Eyewitnesses initially said there was an altercation between a group of youths which resulted in a stabbing, but police have since said the injuries were not consistent with a knife attack.

One person reported seeing a possible victim sitting up against a wall outside apartments being treated by paramedics.

They were taken to hospital for further medical attention.

The boy was questioned on suspicion of assault before being released.

Officers say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident, and enquiries to establish the circumstances are ongoing.
