A food hut boss has told how TV star Dermot O’Leary enjoyed a crab sandwich on the seafront yesterday afternoon.
Spotted in Whitstable Harbour, the famous presenter posed for pictures with fans while also enjoying some of the local food.
Most well-known for his work hosting The X Factor and This Morning, O’Leary also has his own BBC Radio 2 show.
Crabworks co-boss Finley Gullett told KentOnline the 50-year-old celebrity had been at the harbour as part of a new documentary he is working on.
“He was here for a good few hours – I believe he was there to film a documentary about lifeboats,” the 23-year-old said.
“He was very kind and was happy to take multiple pictures supporting the business.
“And he and his camera crew all had a crab sandwich which they all really enjoyed!”
Mr Gullett currently runs Crabworks with his business partner Alex. Having been open in the seaside town for almost a year, he says the soft shell crab brioche – similar to what Dermot tucked into – tends to be a fan favourite.
O’Leary is by no means the first big name to have enjoyed the hospitality of Whitstable residents.
Social media influencer Mia Khalifa has often spoken of her love for the area, while actor Aaron Paul’s visit to an off-licence in the town stunned the shopkeeper.
Shop manager Ross Bell, 50, described the visit of the Breaking Bad star last year as "utterly random".
