A cat was forced to have its tail amputated after becoming trapped in a car engine.
Herne Bay firefighters rescued the distressed animal from underneath a car parked in Goodwin Avenue, Swalecliffe, at 7pm yesterday.
It's understood the cat became stuck in the engine bay after the driver started the car.
A vet was also called to the scene to take the cat away for treatment after it was released.
