The funeral of brave Whitstable youngster Reece Puddington will take place on June 3, with a procession through the town to the Seasalter Christian Centre.

Reece, 11, lost his fight with a rare form of cancer - but not before he compiled a bucket list of wishes which gained him global recognition.

They included having a Hobbit house built in his back garden in Freeman's Close, Seasalter.

His mum, Reece said: "He was a Whitstable boy who shared his life with Whitstable and people in the town gave us all so much support.

"We have been touched by the messages we have received from people here and around the world and we are so grateful to everyone who made his last weeks so special."

Reece died peacefully at home on Tuesday, six years after he was first diagnosed with childhood cancer, neuroblastoma. He had been in remission for four years before relapsing in 2012.

He leaves mum Kay, dad Paul, brother Ryan, 19, and sisters Jamie, 16, and Nikki, 14.

The funeral cortege will leave his house at 11.30am and travel up Joy Lane, through Whitstable town centre to Sea Street and back down Harbour Street, pausing outside the Peter Cushing in Oxford Street.

The service will take place at Seasalter Christian Centre in Joy Lane at 1pm where everyone is welcome but will be followed by a private family burial at St Alphege church.

A celebration of Reece's life will be held at the Catholic Club, Clarence Road, Herne Bay, from 2pm.

His family have asked his supporters to wear red or blue, which were his favourite colours.

There will also be books of condolence at the church for people to leave their own messages to Reece.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Reece's Retreat, an appeal to raise enough money to buy a beach hut in Seasalter for other poorly children to use.
