Kent will take a starring role on The Apprentice tomorrow night as the show’s business wannabes turn their attention to discount buying.

The BBC One show, to be aired at 9pm tomorrow, will see Lord Sugar’s candidates visit Dover Castle, Whitstable, Margate, Ramsgate, Sandwich, Dover and Ashford.

The teams will be tasked with finding nine bargain items and will have to negotiate the best possible price on every item they buy.

The team that spends the least amount of money will win the task.

Helen Bellenie, owner of the Toys ‘n’ Trends shop in Tankerton, was involved in the filming as one of the teams visited her store in April in search of an inflatable boat.

Mrs Bellenie said: “It was a surprise visit.

“It was quite a few months ago and they didn’t tell me who they were, they just told me they were a BBC production crew but we figured it out.

“They were looking for items in teams and one of them was a boat.

“It was a normal inflatable boat we use for the beach.

“It put them in a dilemma what boat size they wanted.

“They went for the cheaper one because it was big enough – they were thrown into a right dilemma.

“It was all really good fun.”

Mrs Bellenie, a former car saleswoman, was interviewed by new board member Claude Litnner who has joined Karren Brady and Lord Sugar in judging the candidates for this series.

Mrs Bellenie added: “I was nervous but it was really good fun.

“I had an interview with Claude at the end.

“He came into the shop and I didn’t know it was him until the end.

“I couldn’t believe it and I was a bit shell-shocked for a while and I was a bit overwhelmed.

"It was good fun and it’s nice to see them in Tankerton – it was brilliant.”
