Joseph Bills appears in court in connection with death of Whitstable cyclist, David Thorman

A man has appeared in court accused of causing the death of a cyclist whilst driving under the influence of cocaine and alcohol.
Popular chef David Thorman tragically died after being struck by a Vauxhall Vivaro van on Canterbury Road on March 10.
Joseph Bills appeared today at Margate Magistrates' Court charged with causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and driving whilst over the limit for both alcohol and drugs.
The 22-year-old of South Street, Whitstable, spoke only to confirm his personal details. He did not enter a plea.
He has been released on bail until the October 24. The case will be heard at Canterbury Crown Court.
