Dramatic footage has emerged of the moment transport police headed out onto railway tracks after reports a man was lying down on the line.

Police have detained the man following the incident near Whitstable last night.

A helicopter joined British Transport Police officers at the scene to look for the man.

Police tweeted the video at 2.07am last night.

A spokesman said: "The male was located and has been detained under the Mental Health Act and is now in safe hands getting the appropriate help he requires."
