A man was rescued from the wreckage of his car after he swerved off the road and ploughed into trees last night.
Emergency crews including police and the air ambulance were called to the crash on the A299 Thanet Way at 10.20pm yesterday.
Two fire engines were also sent to the London-bound stretch near the Whitstable exit, after it emerged the injured man was trapped.
A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "We didn't have to use any cutting equipment.
"Basically we worked with the ambulance service to keep the guy as still and safe as possible.
"We got him out in the least damaging way and put him on a long board."
The man, who had suffered suspected spinal injuries, was then taken to hospital.
