A man suffered serious injuries when he was hit by a car at the weekend.
A huge emergency services presence descended on the seafront in Whitstable following the collision on Sunday morning.
Police and ambulance services were called to the scene in Tower Parade at about 10am.
Pictures showed officers taping the road off, with a number of drivers being forced to turn back.
An air ambulance was also sent at around 10.30am, landing on the beach close by and returning to base at about 11.35am.
The victim was treated at the scene for serious injuries, and was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford for treatment.
A police spokeswoman said: “We were called to a collision in Whitstable, just after 10am on Sunday.
“Officers attended the scene, where the driver of a car had collided with a pedestrian.
“The South East Coast Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance was also in attendance and took the pedestrian to hospital with injuries.”
An ambulance service spokesman added: “I can confirm that SECAmb was called at approximately 10.10am yesterday to reports of an RTC involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Tower Parade, Whitstable.
“Ambulance crews attended and were joined at the scene by the Kent, Surrey, Sussex Air Ambulance Service.
“The pedestrian was assessed and treated before being taken to William Harvey Hospital by road.”
The road reopened at around 12.30pm.
The town was busy at the time as it hosted the Whitstable Rocks Oyster Festival, which started on Friday and continued through the weekend.
The free family event included a mud tug, children’s pottery workshops, a crabbing competition, kite-flying, and the blessing and landing of the oysters.
