A carpenter who used his motorbike as a weapon and drove it at a police officer has been sent to prison.

Banned driver Jordan Stimson had admitted a charge of dangerous driving and driving without a licence or insurance.

But the 24-year-old, from St Luke's Close, Whitstable, failed to show up for his sentencing and a judge ordered his arrest.

Maidstone Crown Court heard how on December 9, 2021, police officers Marcel Bibby and Gareth Nutt were on duty in New Hythe Lane, near Larkfield village hall.

PC Bibby directed Stimson, who was riding a blue Suzuki motorcycle, to stop but he revved and rode at the officer - despite a Taser being used.

Prosecutor Trevor Wright said the machine ended up on PC Bibby's stomach injuring his back before Stimson fled on foot - again escaping a second Taser being used by PC Nutt.

As PC Bibby was taken to Pembury Hospital, Stimson stashed his black jacket and helmet in the graveyard at the Holy Trinity Church in Larkfield.

He was arrested after a car was stopped on December 10.

Kerry Waitt, defending, said Stimson had been banned from driving in May 2017 and ordered to take an extended driving test before re-applying for his licence.

He added that the test was due the day after the incident and Stimson was driving illegally to get to work.

Judge Philip St John-Stevens told him: "You used that bike as a weapon when you drove it at the officer."

Stimson, who admitted dangerous driving and driving without a licence and insurance, was jailed for six months and given a 27-month driving ban.
