Morrisons has finally revealed it will open a new store on the site of arcades in Whitstable High Street.
The supermarket giant today confirmed it is behind plans submitted to the council to take over Cain’s Amusements.
Spokesman Sarah Atta said: "We’re in the early stages of planning to bring a Morrisons M local to Whitstable and are proud to be creating 20 new jobs for local people.
"As well as giving shoppers more choice, we think the extra footfall generated should benefit everyone and will work hard to make our store a positive addition to the community."
Business leaders had launched an appeal to stop Morrisons opening on the site, claiming its arrival would damage businesses nearby.
They had hoped an independent trader could take on the building, but no bid to do so was forthcoming.
