A “family fun day” at Whitstable Yacht Club is offering visitors the chance to learn more about sailing this weekend.

The event at the club in Sea Wall will offer a range of free activites for all ages - both on the beach and on the water, including “joy rides” with experienced sailors on a range of boats.

The club will also be offering information on its range of programmes - from lessons for total novices to youth sailing, family activities and national level competitive racing.

It is also offering two-for-one memberships and discounts on sailing courses booked on the day, while a prize draw will also offer visitors the chance to win a dinghy cruise around Whitstable Bay.

Joy rides will run between midday and 4pm, and should be booked in advance by emailing training@wyc.org.uk.

Training centre principal Richard Maltby said: “We’re a friendly club and look forward to welcoming everyone down to see what sailing and Whitstable Yacht Club have to offer.”

The event is running from noon until 5pm on Saturday (May 11).

Tickets are available at wyc.org.uk.
