Firefighters were called to a home in Whitstable after an overheated battery sparked a blaze.
Two fire engines rushed to Virginia Road at 11.44am this morning and crews wearing breathing apparatus battled flames with a hose reel jet.
Firefighters then used a high pressured fan to clear the room of smoke.
It is believed the fire started accidentally when the battery of a hand-held power tool, which was stored in the home's conservatory, overheated and caught alight.
No casualties were reported.
