Whitstable: Police launch witness appeal after beach huts broken into on West Beach
14:33, 07 March 2017
Thieves broke into four beach huts in one night on West Beach in Whitstable.
They cut through padlocks to get into the wooden shacks.
Nothing was taken, but police have now launched an appeal for witnesses.
Sgt Nick Barton urged people to report any suspicious behaviour at any of the beach huts in Whitstable and Herne Bay, especially as the evenings become lighter.
"This area is popular with walkers and we would ask anyone who was in the area and witnessed the attempted burglaries to contact us," he said.
"We are also reminding people not to leave any valuables in their huts as these can prove rich pickings for opportunist thieves."
The break-ins happened overnight between Thursday and Friday last week.
Anyone with information is asked to phone police on 01843 222289, quoting ZY/8458/17.
