Whitstable: Anson Sims to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court today after town centre smashing spree

A man has been charged following a smashing spree in Whitstable town centre.

Anson Sims, 36, is due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court today after being charged with criminal damage.

Police were called just before 7.30pm on Monday to reports of a man damaging windows with a shovel in Cromwell Road, High Street and Oxford Street.

Wing Wah Chinese was damaged.
Wing Wah Chinese was damaged.

Among the buildings targeted were the town’s library, cafes, Chinese takeaway, a charity shop, a butcher and a pharmacy.
