Few people familiar with kids' film The NeverEnding Story can forget the scene where Artax the horse fatefully becomes trapped in mud.
But then the fictional white steed didn't have brilliant firefighters on hand to winch him to safety.
Luckily the fate of a Seasalter pony trapped in a dyke was far happier affair, after she was rescued from the water in Faversham Road last night.
The half-submerged mare was lifted out of the embankment by fire crews much to the joy of her new foal who was waiting patiently by the side.
She was tired, but uninjured after the rescue.
Fire crews were called to the scene just after 7.50pm and left at about 10pm.
