Trains were delayed along a seaside route after a vehicle crashed into a railway bridge.
Southeastern announced this morning that some of its services were cancelled due to the crash at 8.16am in Whitstable.
The bridge in Faversham Road suffered superficial damage, and inspectors were called to check on it.
As such, trains from from Faversham to Margate were stopped.
But the line has since re-opened and usual service resumed shortly before 4.30pm,
A Network Rail spokesperson said: “Rail passengers faced needless train delays between Whitstable and Faversham this morning after vehicle hit a railway bridge in the Seasalter area.
“After immediately sending someone to the scene, fortunately there was no structural damage and we were able to get the railway reopen again within an hour.
“Bridge strikes like these cost taxpayers millions of pounds every year and can be completely avoided.
“We urge drivers to always know the height and size of their vehicles - including any loads they are carrying - and to carefully plan their routes so our infrastructure isn’t put at risk in this way.”
