A man accused of a string of sex attacks across Kent - including four in Whitstable - has today been charged with more offences.

The 42-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is alleged to have committed nine sexual assaults and five robberies last year.

He has also been charged with two assaults, one theft and a count of indecent exposure.

The alleged offences are said to have happened over 11 months, with details of the latest charges emerging at Medway Magistrates Court today.

The first of the offences – a robbery - is alleged to have happened in Nelson Road, Gillingham on January 13 last year.

Two weeks later the man is said to have carried out an attempted theft and sexual assault on the Crab and Winkle Way in Whitstable.

It is alleged he indecently touched a woman walking with her daughter and tried to steal her bag.

On March 2 he is accused of one sexual assault, one robbery and one indecent exposure in Junction Road, Gillingham, as well as two sex attacks in Riverside Country Park, in Lower Rainham Road, on June 28.

It is these five offences that the man was charged with today.

On August 12 he is accused of four sexual assaults – two in Stream Walk, Whitstable, one in the town’s All Saints Close and another in Copperhouse Lane, Rainham.

One of the alleged attacks was on an 88-year-old woman.

On the same day it is alleged he also committed a robbery in Woodlands Road, Gillingham.

It is then said he committed an assault in Riverside Country Park on October 9, and another four days later in Gillingham Park, Gillingham.

The last sexual assault he is charged with is alleged to have happened on October 27 in Berengrave Lane, Rainham, where he is also accused of one count of robbery.

The final charge relates to a robbery in Lordswood Lane, Chatham, on November 1.

After today’s court appearance, he was again remanded in custody and will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court, on Friday, February 13.

The man cannot be named because of a court order banning the press from identifying him.
