Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul left customers at a Kent off-licence stunned after popping in to search for his own Mexican-style mezcal.

The A-list actor was on a day trip to Whitstable when he paid a visit with his family to The Offy in the town's High Street.

While there he picked up a bottle of Dos Hombres - a drink he created with his Breaking Bad co-star Bryan Cranston.

Shop manager Ross Bell, 50, described yesterday's visit as "utterly random".

"I think he's seen a liquor store and come in on the off-chance we stock his mezcal," he recalled.

"I'd just finished a meeting when he came in with a pram. I saw him out of the corner of my eye and thought 'nah, it can't be him'.

"But then he pointed up at the Dos Hombres and went to his wife 'hey, baby, they've got it'. He looked absolutely thrilled.

"He said thanks very much for stocking his drink and then asked if he could take a photo with me and the bottle - maybe even to send to Bryan Cranston to say 'look how far our drink has made it, to a little town in Kent'.

"He then returned the favour and had a selfie with us."

Emmy Award-winning Paul starred as Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad - widely regarded as one of the best TV series ever made - and the spin-off movie El Camino.

He also appears in the HBO science fiction western series Westworld.

Dad-of-two Ross, who has run The Offy since 2011, says the actor is in the UK filming.

"He was on a day trip here with his young family - his wife and two beautiful kids," he said.

"He said he was filming, but I don't know what for - maybe Westworld.

"He was so lovely - a real, real sweetheart. He took photos with other people in the shop as well, and was really humble.

"It's great to have had a proper A-lister in your shop.

"I loved Breaking Bad, and El Camino and Better Call Saul. They're some of the best story-telling there's been on TV."

"We also stock George Clooney's mezcal, Casamigios, but I assume he won't be coming in..."

Paul, 42, didn't only just pose with the Dos Hombres, but bought a bottle of the £77 booze.

"We've stocked it for a couple of years," Ross said.

"Me and my brother had a bottle between us once - it's fantastic, smooth as you like.

"We also stock George Clooney's mezcal, Casamigios, but I assume he won't be coming in."

While Ross isn't expecting any more visits from Hollywood royalty, he does have his fair share of celebrity fans.

"Suggs is a regular and is always on top form, and we've also had Sandy Toksvig, Vic Reeves and Gordon Ramsay," he said.
