A friend of tragic Kayleigh Duff is releasing a single today in her honour.

Katie Birch, 29, is launching the charity song in aid of Cancer Research after pal Kayleigh lost her fight with cancer on April 15 at her home in Seasalter.

The former Frank Montgomery pupil, known as Lady KTB, hopes the track, called Live Your Life, will encourage people to seize the day.

She said: "It was Kayleigh who inspired the track. It’s about living for today because you never know what might happen tomorrow.

"It’s a really personal song and I haven’t been able to listen to it since Kayleigh died.

"I tried my best to help her do the things she wanted to do, and I’m pleased I was able to.

"I saw her recently and she still had the same personality. She was still making us laugh, even though she was in pain.

"She stayed strong until the end. That’s inspirational for anyone with cancer, let alone someone so young. She could have crumbled but she didn’t."

Other community members are also rallying round to raise money in the name of the 24-year-old inspirational mum.

Friends and well-wishers raised thousands to help her tick goals off her bucket list, including a holiday to Disney World and a wedding photoshoot.

After supporting Kayleigh throughout her battle, they are now carrying on the fundraising effort as a tribute to her.

Kayleigh’s friends Sarah Neaves and Lisa Holness are aiming to raise £30,000 for Kayleigh's three-year-old son Kai.

In a message on the website kayleighduff.co.uk, Sarah says: "As promised to Kayleigh, we are going to reach our target and secure Kai’s future financially."

Friends Emma Brown and Natalie Evans are also planning a ladies’ night to raise money for Kai when he is older.

Emma, 27, of Clare Drive in Herne Bay, says: "We know the family, who are appreciative of what we’re doing.

"Her story touched me so much, and I just wanted to do something to help."

It will be held at Vivid nightclub from 7pm to 11pm on Saturday, May 31, and entertainment will include an Elvis impersonator, strippers, naked butlers, karaoke and an Ann Summers party.

There will also be a raffle with prizes including a three-course meal for two from Raj at The Shad restaurant, a nail treatment from Danielle Hill, a box of wines from L&J Contractors, a tarot reading from Tracey Wilson, a weekend away at Alberta Holiday Park and a week of free classes at Swagga Dance Academy.

Half the money raised will go into the fund for Kai, with the other half going towards Cancer Research and paying for the performers.

The family has asked for donations to the Pilgrims Hospice or flowers to be sent to Woollard and Kent funeral directors in Tankerton.
