Fire at Royal British Legion social club in Oxford Street, Whitstable, under investigation

An investigation has been launched after a fire broke out at a social club.

Five fire engines were sent to The Royal British Legion Social Club in Whitstable at 3am.

Crews used main jets and hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze which had taken hold of the roof and the first floor of the site in Oxford Street.

There were no reported injuries, and the cause is being investigated by fire service.

Crews left at about 5.30am.

The social club is closed today.

A spokesman said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Whitstable RBL Social Club will be closed for the foreseeable future. We will keep in touch with any updates.”
