Opportunist thieves attempted to burgle three expensive beach huts but left the seaside empty-handed.
They forced open the locks on huts along Marine Parade, Tankerton, on Saturday and Monday.
Police say nothing was taken but a red canoe with an orange tip was left next to one of the shacks.
Sergeant Nick Barton said: "We're reminding people not to leave any valuables in their huts as these can prove rich pickings for opportunist thieves.
"If you have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area we’d like to hear from you.
"We are also asking people to be vigilant and report suspicious behaviour by phoning 101 or 999 if a crime is in progress."
Officers are trying to locate the owner of the canoe and return it to them.
