Commuters were hit with delays tonight after a lorry struck a railway bridge.
The line between Faversham and Margate was blocked following the incident near Chestfield and Swalecliffe station.
Train operator Southeastern posted on X, formerly Twitter, about the incident shortly before 5pm.
It said: “A lorry has hit a bridge at Chestfield and Swalecliffe and the line between Faversham and Margate is blocked until response staff can check the bridge for damage.
“Response staff are expected to arrive in the next 20 minutes.”
But it has since shared that the line has reopened.
Trains between London, the Medway Towns and Ramsgate via Faversham may still be altered at short notice while it works to return services to normal.
