Train delays between Ramsgate, Faversham and Whitstable as police search for train track trespassers
19:49, 02 August 2024
Rail service to a coastal town has been cut off as police search the area for track trespassers.
Operators have switched off power to the train lines surrounding Whitstable after a man was reported trespassing on the tracks.
Southeastern warned at 6.38pm on Friday that some services between Faversham and Ramsgate may be delayed while the disruption was dealt with.
A spokesperson said via Twitter: “Trespassers on the railway near Whitstable. Police are on site and searching for the trespasser. Conductors on board are making their way through the train to open all windows where possible.”
Southeastern posted minutes later that a trespasser had been located and removed by police.
“As soon as they are off the railway, we will work to get everyone on the move again,” they added, in the update.
