Two men have been stabbed at a popular coastal caravan park.

They were injured in a disturbance at Alberta Holiday Park in Seasalter, Whitstable, on Saturday night.

Police and paramedics arrived at the scene in Faversham Road at about 11.20pm.

Two men, one aged in his 20s and the other in his 30s, had suffered injuries consistent with stab wounds and were taken to a London hospital for treatment.

Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police are continuing to investigate.

The incident is believed to have taken place at the holiday park's clubhouse, described on its website as a "family friendly" spot "serving food and beverages throughout the day with regular cabaret acts, and live sporting events on Sky and BT Sports".

The clubhouse was closed following the incident but reopened this morning.

A spokesman for Park Holidays UK, which owns Alberta Holiday Park, said: "We are giving every assistance possible to the police in their investigation of this incident.

"We are grateful for the prompt attendance of police officers at the scene, and to members of our staff at the park who acted quickly and responsibly to ensure the safety of other guests.

"The use of our clubhouse at Alberta Holiday Park is restricted to holiday home owners and their family and friends and to holiday guests staying on the park. The clubhouse is not open to the general public."

Situated near the seafront in Seasalter, the site is a popular spot for families and houses more than 300 static holiday caravans.

The majority of these units are privately-owned, with a small number of caravans operated on a rental basis by the park and several occupied by staff during the operating season, which is between March and January.

Alongside its clubhouse, it features amenities including a restaurant and outdoor swimming pool.
