Woman collapses near Sportsman pub at Seasalter in front of onlookers

Police and paramedics were called to the beach after a young woman reportedly cut her wrists and tried to wade into the sea.

Witnesses claim the victim, said to be in her early 20s, was found at the water’s edge in Seasalter, near the Michelin-starred Sportsman pub.

A dog walker described how he saw the woman collapsed on the shingles with a bottle of spirits next to her.

Around seven police cars and three ambulances were said to have attended the scene at around 4pm yesterday.

Police and ambulance services have yet to comment on the incident.

A Kent Police spokeswoman said: “Kent Police was called at 2.55pm on Wednesday following a report of concern for welfare of a woman in Seasalter Road, Seasalter.

“Officers located the woman and she has been taken to a local hospital.”

The victim’s condition was unknown.
