An elderly woman was taken to hospital this morning following a fire which broke out in Whitstable.
Firefighters were called to a terraced house at Daniels Court in Island Wall at 4am after the blaze broke out in the roof triggering a smoke alarm.
An elderly couple were led to safety before a woman in her 80s was later taken to hospital by ambulance crews.
No neighbouring homes were affected by the fire.
Three crews spent four hours at the address as firefighters used breathing apparatus, hose reel jets and a thermal imaging camera to bring the fire under control.
The upper floor of the home was severely damaged by the fire while the rest of the property was also affected by water damage.
Firefighters say the cause of the fire was accidental while revealing they had trouble gaining access to home because of inconsiderate parking.
Watch manager Richard Judge said: "Our crews did experience difficulty reaching the estate because of illegally parked vehicles.
"The cause of fire remains under investigation but we believe it was accidental."
