Whitstable Town boss Lloyd Blackman knows their run of games against the division’s lowest teams guarantees nothing.

His men face the bottom four clubs in Isthmian South East over the next four Saturdays, starting with winless East Grinstead.

The bottom placed side have recently brought in a new manager, Leigh Dynan, who has added fresh players to the squad, leaving Blackman wary

He said: “There is a new gaffer at East Grinstead so there has been change there and a new gaffer at Ramsgate and change there. There is never an easy game in this league and anyone who watches games in the league will know that.

“It’s the most consistent teams who win promotion but any team can have a good day.

“East Grinstead have a new manager and some new players, they have brought in some new lads and made a couple of decent signings.

“The manager there is going to want to stamp his own authority on things and they are certainly going to be looking to be picking up points now.

“It’s important that we are ruthless and that we take our chances.”

Town’s run of games against strugglers Three Bridges (18th), Burgess Hill Town (17th) and Ramsgate (19th) also includes a midweek match against promotion-chasing Cray Valley.

Blackman called on his side to show a more ruthless streak last week but they failed to make the most of their chances late on against Chichester City on Saturday.

The game ended 1-1 after Aaron Millbank cancelled out City’s first-half opener.

They had one-on-one chances before that and in the final seconds, none of which were converted.

“We know we should have had more points than we’ve got and that’s motivation for us,” said the manager.

“After the game I didn’t know whether to be deflated, happy or disappointed.

“On reflection though the draw was fair.

“We’ve seen in games against Sevenoaks, Ashford and Herne Bay that we have the endeavour and work rate but we haven’t been ruthless.

“We had chances to snatch all three points. It’s a pattern that needs to change.”

Whitstable did take heart from their win over Welling Town, however, beating the National South side 2-1 in the Kent Senior Cup last Tuesday.

Marshall Wratten got both goals, sending Town through to the quarter-finals, but he picked up an injury, keeping him out last weekend.

He’s got a chance to be fit to face East Grinstead.

Liam Dickson is also closing in on a return.
