Whitstable Town boss Lloyd Blackman talks Sevenoaks defeat, FA Cup clash and James Morrish departure

Whitstable boss Lloyd Blackman insists his side won’t dwell on Saturday’s 4-0 loss to Sevenoaks.
The Oystermen witnessed first hand how open the Isthmian South East division is this season as they slipped to defeat just a week after beating Herne Bay 3-0.
Blackman said: “I don’t want to take anything away from Sevenoaks because they deserved the victory.
“We didn’t really get going and at 0-0 at half-time we felt we were just lacking in a few areas.
“They got one and then once they got the second, our heads seemed to drop. Then it was a case of the harder we tried, the worse it got.
“We had a debrief afterwards about the things we need to put right, we’ve quickly erased that one and the focus is ahead.

“There’s been some strange results, especially on the back of last week. It brought us back down to earth sharpish.
“I'm trying not to think about it too much, we don't want to over evaluate it. We are a side in transition, we'll work on things.
“There’s no finger pointing, we just didn’t put a performance in across the group. It was just a bad day at the office.”
All eyes are now on Saturday’s FA Cup clash at home to Folkestone, which Blackman insists his players believe they can win.
“The boys have got the bit between their teeth now to respond,” he added.
“We had a great session Tuesday. We know it’s a long shot but we’ve got nothing to lose. It’s the toughest draw we could have really.
“It’s going to be a tough game no doubt, coming away with a victory is possible.”
Whitstable are meanwhile searching for a replacement for James Morrish following the midfielder's move to Canterbury City.
Blackman explained: “We're looking at it. There are a couple of players we're looking at, we're looking to improve and hopefully there will be some more news on that in the future.
“We've got to keep working on developing. If players that are going to improve you are available you'd be naive not to pursue them. We're all singing off the same hymn sheet.”
