Whitstable Town's acting chairman Joe Brownett says the Ryman League Division 1 South club are about to attract new investment

Joe Brownett has assured Whitstable fans the club are in safe hands as they prepare to welcome three new investors.
The trio will join the committee at a meeting tomorrow (Friday) and the acting chairman says the future is bright despite on-field struggles.
Mr Brownett said: “It’s been a dreadful season but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
“Three new people are coming in with finance but I’d like to stress that Whitstable will still be run as a member club and not a limited company.
“Rest assured, supporters will still have their club. There were concerns the new people coming in would take over the club but they’re coming in as part of the club.
“They’re bringing financial support but we move forward together. There’s lots to look forward to.”
Mr Brownett took over as acting chairman after Gary Johnson stood down earlier this month. He anticipates one of the new officers taking over as chairman as Town build for the future.
The club may have to take a step back first, though, with Whitstable facing relegation to Southern Counties East.
Mr Brownett said: “No one wants it to happen but the general opinion within the club is that we probably will go down. If it happens, we won’t start crying. We’ll be ready for it and build again.
“With all the new things occurring, it’s not as though the club will disappear. We’ve got all these proposals to make the club better, so we never get in this position again.”
