Scott Porter targeting big week for Whitstable Town in Bostik South East
00:00, 13 September 2018
Scott Porter hopes his Whitstable Town side can get a good run going in the Bostik South East.
Whitstable have three games in the space of seven days, which starts with a trip to Phoenix Sports on Saturday and a home match with Haywards Heath on Tuesday.
Porter will be hoping his side can put their FA Cup defeat to a strong Bognor Reigs side behind them.
Manager Porter said: “The bigger picture is the next seven days. We need a good run in the league and we have three games in a row.
“We have not really got going in the league as things have been a bit stop start with the cups and games getting called off because of traffic.
“Every game in this league will be tough. We have to get back to the level we were at last year and it does take a bit of adjusting to the new league.
“It is three games where we want to pick up some wins now.”
Porter has also added Steve Smith and Louis Sprosen to his squad who both join from Glebe following the departure of three players earlier this month.
He said: “I have got the squad where I want it to be. Because of the cup games we have not been able to get them in but they are here now for this big week for us.”
Whitstable lost 5-0 at home to Bognor Regis in the FA Cup but Porter could not fault the effort of his players.
He added: “They were a strong side. I had no complaints with the result or the performance of my players.
“Everything about them was top drawer but I could not ask for anymore from my players.
“They were by far the best team we have played in a long time and everyone at the club said it was the best side that has been at the ground for a while.”
