Scott Porter is gearing up for the biggest weekend of Whitstable’s season, despite the threat of Town being relegated before the clocks go forward.

With six games to go in Ryman League Division 1 South, the Oystermen are 10 points adrift of second-bottom Peacehaven and effectively 17 behind fourth-bottom East Grinstead and safety.

Failure to beat Chipstead at the Belmont on Saturday (3pm) would effectively seal their fate but boss Porter remained bullish about Town’s chances of victory and then following it up in the Easter Monday trip to Chatham (3pm).

He said: “It’s a big weekend – massive. If we could go out and get two wins then it does leave us in good stead for the last four games.

"We have to give ourselves at least a chance.

“It is still possible. You never know what might happen at the end of the season when it comes to teams getting reprieves and others dropping out.

“We have to try and finish as high as we can to give ourselves the best possible chance of being in this division next season.”

Porter is hopeful of boosting his ranks with the signing of teenage Maidstone United academy striker Harris Rodgers, while Stuart King should return from a groin problem after missing the 4-2 defeat at Corinthian Casuals on Saturday – Town’s 10th straight loss.
