One of Canterbury's most frequently used roads is shut due to a burst water main.
The one-mile stretch between the Kingsmead Road roundabout and Vauxhall is the area affected by the sudden closure.
South East Water engineers have arrived on site, near to the Barretts garage, to repair the fault.
The closure came into force at about 4pm.
It is not yet known when the road will reopen.
The alternative road for those heading out of the city is via Kingsmead Road, left onto Sturry Road, and then onto Vauxhall Road pas the city's tip and onto Broad Oak Road.
