Forecasters say Kent is set to bask in the hottest week of the year.

Temperatures are expected to rise over the next few days - and could reach 30C in the county on Friday.

The Met Office says sizzling temperatures will come from hot and humid air being pumped over from Spain.

This morning is set to be dry and sunny across most of the county, with more cloud around during the afternoon - and possible thundery rain.

Highs of 23C are expected in Chatham, with temperatures dropping to 21C on the coast.

The hot spell comes after most of Kent suffered a rain-soaked weekend with severe weather.

Rain and storms lashed towns - leaving some submerged under several inches of water.

Kent was put under a severe weather warning by the Met Office, with the yellow warning stretching over the entire region.
