Multi-million pound plans unveiled

Islanders are being encouraged to visit an exhibition today detailing plans for a state-of-the-art office scheme at Neats Court.
The £10.1 million project off Queenborough Road will house the Amicus Horizon Group’s new three-storey office for its 260 staff from the company’s existing offices in Sittingbourne.
It will feature an open plan office space, around internal landscaped courtyards, with meeting rooms, dining and staff rest facilities.
There will also be a fitness room plus changing rooms and the offices will also house the group’s 24 hours a day call centre.
Swale Council approved outline planning permission for the Neats Court development, which also includes a new hotel, filling station and a regional distribution centre for Aldi.
Planners are yet to approve specific details for the site, but if given the go-ahead the Amicus office scheme would start on the site at the end of this year, with an anticipated completion date of spring 2010.
Amicus, which is one of the largest housing associations in southeast England, has employed architects from Pascall+Watson to create an energy efficient building that will be naturally ventilated and built with environmentally sustainable materials.
It will meet the Green Charter requirements for the £450 million Queenborough and Rushenden regeneration project.
The exhibition at The Gateway in Rushenden Road, Rushenden, is open from 9am to 5pm.
