Plans have been submitted to build 10 new homes on land currently occupied by a used car dealership.
Williams Group Ltd is seeking to replace existing vehicle workshops at the site in East Farleigh with the houses and a new commercial office building.
The proposals for the transformation of the land at Culls Farm in Dean Street have been submitted to Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) for planning permission.
Currently the 0.75 hectare site is used as a vehicle sales and repair centre, with substantial buildings and large open areas used for the storage of cars.
The planning application outlines a development of 10 properties set around a courtyard area, along with a traditionally-designed office building of "chalet style design" with office space for rent.
Of the 10 new homes, five would be detached four-bedroom family homes, three would be detached three-bedroom houses, and there would be two three-bedroom and one two-bedroom properties build within a single terrace.
Plans drawn up by the scheme's architects show homes which have been designed to have a rural appearance in order to appear as a "farmstead-style development" following pre-application advice from the borough council.
East Farleigh Parish Council considered this application at an online meeting of its planning committee earlier this month and is in favour of approving the plans.
Initially the developers hoped to erect 15 homes on the site, but the scale of the proposal has been reduced following concerns of overdevelopment raised by MBC at the pre-application stage of the planning process.
