College students are set to appear on television tonight after being given the opportunity to work on a charity renovation project.
The BBC hit programme DIY SOS: The Big Build visited Great Ormond Street Hospital over the summer to install Chris Beardshaw’s Gold medal-winning garden from the Chelsea Flower Show to the rooftop of the building.
Students and staff from Hadlow College were keen to help out with the project, and volunteered six days a week over a three-week period to the project.
Sixteen students and two staff from across the Tonbridge Road college’s garden design, landscape management, horticulture and RHS diploma courses offered their expertise between Monday, May 23 and Friday, June 10.
The show was broadcast on BBC One last night (Thursday) at 8pm, and is available on the BBC iPlayer.
Renee Dewhurst, Science Technician at Hadlow, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for us to do our bit for the hospital’s young patients and their families.
"All the volunteers were very keen to dedicate their time to such a compassionate project and were hugely excited about the build.”
