Accountant Mike Snow is going through a mid-life crisis - he’s fed up with work, his commute and being celibate.
Mr Snow’s journey to work, and into the world of internet dating, is the subject of a new novel by first-time author John Rinaldi, who lives in Temple Ewell.
Describing the synopsis of Cannon Street Only, John said: “Hacked off with work, loneliness and above all, the infernal journey to and from the office, Mike plans his escape. Will the actuary and technophobe find love and happiness in a society obsessed with gadgets, apps and wi-fi?
“Will he be able to decipher text speak, attempt cyber sex or even remember his password? The chances are slim but he’s going to have a damn good try.”
He added: “Think Reggie Perrin behaving badly.”
Cannon Street Only is John’s first attempt at writing a novel and the inspiration came from his own commute into London when he was living in Chatham.
The father-of-three says that after moving to Temple Ewell, he has at last had the time to put pen to paper.
“I had this idea in my head for a long time but other things got in the way,” he said. “I finally got it down and got a lot of people to read through it before I published it.”
The novel is available as a download on any electronic device that can run the Kindle app, including smart phones and tablets.
Mr Rinaldi, 51, said: “I was quite concerned with all the paper that’s used, and this is a very simple way of getting yourself out there.”
Cannon Street Only can be downloaded from the Kindle book store for £2.50, just search John Rinaldi.
