A man will appear in court after being charged with several offences including possession of an offensive weapon.
Graeme Gales, 52, was arrested after police responded to a man acting suspiciously in Railway Street, Chatham.
Officers seized two torches, a metal punch tool, gloves and bolt cutters and later charged Gales, of St Michaels Close, Chatham, with going equipped for theft, possessing the weapon and shoplifting.
He has been bailed appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 27.
