Two horses were loose on Lower Rainham Road, in Gillingham and Rainham this morning

Motorists reported seeing two horses loose on a busy road in Gillingham early this morning.
People travelling to work via Lower Rainham Road, in Gillingham, saw the horses loose near Berengrave Lane, but later they had managed to get along the road to Otterham Quay Lane.
One driver, Luke Cawdell, said: “A couple of motorists in front had to swerve to avoid them as I drove along the road.”
A spokesman for Kent Police said: “We were called to reports of two horses on the road, in the area of Otterham Quay Lane and Lower Rainham Road, Rainham.
Officers carried out a search of the area and the horses were no longer on the road and had been returned to a field by about 8am.
