Gillingham Independent Supporters’ Club has a new name to reflect their closer ties with the club.
The GISC will now be known as the Gillingham FC Supporters’ Club and they’ve a new badge too which has been approved for use by the club.
A supporter club statement said: “The bold, new era that is Gillingham FC has seen closer links forged between the Football Club and the Supporters’ Club as the new season fast approaches.
“Following a very fruitful meeting between the committee of the Gills Independent Supporters’ Club (GISC), Brad and Shannon Galinson, plus other club staff, it was agreed that a name change would be proposed to reflect the new and closer relationship between the supporters and their parent club.”
Members of the supporters’ group opted for a name change and following discussions, the Gillingham FC Supporters’ Club name was chosen.
The committee are working on ways to provide additional benefits to members this season as membership continues to grow.
Club season ticket sales are at a 10 year high and there are hopes of making it to 3,500, which would be a new record.
Gillingham FC Supporters’ Club Chairman Neil Klee said: “We very much look forward to working closer with the football club in the future on specific projects, as well as providing feedback from the fans directly to the club in regular meetings.
“We cannot wait to get started and make a difference for all Gills supporters.”
The supporters’ club thanked owners Brad and Shannon Galinson for their assistance along with head of media and communications Phill Catterick and supporter liaison officer Ben Reeves.
Gillingham FC Supporters Club say they are currently in discussions regarding a new car park facility - the Sikh Temple in Franklin Road is no longer available - and hope to have away travel details published soon, which will be combined with the Gillingham FC operation.
Further details can be found here on the supporters’ club website.
