Kent Highways bosses have announced £6.6m works to build a roundabout on Sheppey's Lower Road will start this month.
Breheny Civil Engineering will complete the work from Monday, June 25, at the junction of Barton Hill Drive, where there is currently a no right turn rule in place.
The first phase of work will see the construction of the four-arm roundabout, which will replace the existing traffic lights. This stage will be complete by January 18, 2019.
A 12-week-long road closure at Barton Hill Drive is planned for August this year to allow workers to link the roundabout to the existing road.
Drivers will be diverted through Thistle Hill Way and Plover Road, where parking will be restricted.
Full details will be announced nearer the time.
The second and final phase, which is set to begin next March, will see the Lower Road widened.
That phase will not be finished until December 2019.
The majority of the work will take place during the day between Monday and Saturday, but some resurfacing works are set to be scheduled for overnight.
